No one is joking when they say the Iphone 13 launch has been the most hyped up event of the year. Less than an hour before its official release, rumors are circulating all over Twitter about the main selling point of this phone: its ability to take pictures in absolute darkness.
The 12-megapixel camera reportedly uses a new technology that allows it to see every single photon that bounces off its surroundings, resulting in extremely crisp images with vivid contrast even after adjusting for brightness levels. The effect is augmented by multiple separate LED flashes on both sides of the phone which can be activated using gestures . It’s important to note that these lights are not being used as flash or flashlight but instead augmenting what little there already is.
“This is the next generation of cameras here. This is more like night vision basically,” said Dave Wagener, VP at Apple .
Apple has also revolutionized how we take selfies by releasing an infrared camera on the front of the phone which works by identifying where your eyes are and using that to give you “the most accurate portrait lighting” possible. This feature can be turned off if desired, but with multiple onboard sensors working together, there’s less chance of a flash causing red eye or making someone look gray.
