Dr. Swati Mohan has inspired the new generation of scientist today. She immigrated to the US from India at age 1, was inspired by Star Trek at 9, then earned a B.S from Cornell in mechanical and aerospace engineering, and an M.S. and Ph.D from MIT in aeronautics.
Over the course of her career with NASA, Mohan has worked on the Cassini mission to Saturn and GRAIL — a pair of formation form of aircraft to the Moon and has been a mainstay with the Mars 2020 mission since its beginning in 2013.
As the world witnessed the historic landing of NASA’s Perseverance rover on the Martian surface it was Indian-American scientist, Swati Mohan who led the guidance, navigation and control operation of the Mars 2020 mission
