Sundar Pichai is an Indian American business executive. Sundar Pichai has been the chief executive officer of Google Inc., since October 4, 2015, and a board member of Alphabet Inc., since October 2, 2017. He was announced as the next CEO of Google on August 10, 2015, succeeding Larry Page , who stepped down to become Chief Executive Officer of Alphabet. On January 24, 2018 he became the richest person in India after Lakshmi Mittal by surpassing a net worth of $US81 billion (on Forbes’ Billionaire list).
He is an alumnus of the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur , where he met his future wife, Anjali Pichai.
Early life and education : Pichai was born in Madurai, Tamil Nadu , India, to Lakshmi Kumari and Ragunatha Pichai . His father worked at a factory that made electrical components for the Automobile industry . Sundar grew up in Ashok Nagar, Chennai , Tamil Nadu. When he was 15 years old, his father died in a road accident while he was traveling to work. He studied at the Holy Angels Anglo Indian Higher Secondary School in Chennai. In January 2016, Pichai and Google agreed to: pay a $7 million fine to settle a U.S. Federal Trade Commission privacy investigation and properly delete data of users who want that done; clearly inform users of how to opt out of Google’s use of their information when selling ads; and launch a campaign to educate consumers about privacy controls on Android devices . The Associated Press reported the timing of the settlement is important because it may influence how forthcoming Apple , Facebook and will be with permission requests for user data on their mobile devices.
Personal life : Pichai is married to Anjali Pichai (née Chada) and has two children, son Kiran and daughter Kavya . His father-in-law is former CEO of Hindustan Unilever Ltd., Mohan Krishnamurthy, while his mother-in-law, Malini Chada , is a Kathak dancer. Sundar was the captain of IIT Kharagpur’s basketball team for two consecutive years. He also played cricket and football in his younger days. He is an avid fan of cricket and supports the Indian national cricket team . He follows the sports closely including live matches when he is traveling. Sundar has a keen interest in photography .

Sundar Pichai was born on July 12, 1972. His father is a Tamilian from India and mother is a Punjabi from Jallandhar He has one sister. In an interview as part of the promotion for his film “New York”, director Mira Nair called him “the most beautiful man in the world.”

Pichai studied metallurgical engineering at IIT Kharagpur , where he stood first throughout his batch. He then went on to enroll into Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur , for a master’s degree in materials science and engineering but eventually changed his area of study to computer science and engineering . While at IIT, Pichai taught as a guest lecturer on topics related to computer science at the department of computer science and engineering for a couple of semesters.
In 1994, he went to the University of Pennsylvania where he earned his MBA from Wharton School of Business in 1999 as a Baker Scholar , graduating with highest honors.
